Even people who are at or near their ideal weight can struggle with localized pockets of stubborn fat. When these areas don’t budge in response to diet and exercise, it can be incredibly frustrating. For those who still have good muscle tone and skin elasticity, a liposuction procedure offers an effective solution and a way to achieve a more natural-looking distribution of body fat.
At the Center for Weight Loss Surgery, we perform affordable liposuction surgery in the Seattle area, aimed at reshaping and redefining the contours of your body. If you’ve been looking for a way to target specific problem areas and improve your appearance, abdominal or thigh liposuction could be the solution.
Are you bothered by troublesome pockets of fat in your abdomen, waist, hips, back or thighs? Because they are genetically determined, these areas of fat accumulation do not always regress by eating right and working out. Fortunately, liposuction and liposculpture can address them in another way. Also known as lipoplasty or suction-assisted lipectomy, liposuction is different from weight loss surgery. Its main objective is to reshape and recontour parts of the body that haven’t responded to diet and exercise alone. For qualifying patients, this procedure can sometimes be the best and most effective way to remove localized areas of fat.
With offices in Federal Way and Kirkland, WA, the Center for Weight Loss Surgery offers affordable back, hip or stomach liposuction in Seattle—giving you a way to sculpt and reshape your body into the smoother, sleeker form you desire.
How Does Liposuction Work?
Liposuction is a technique whereby the fat in certain areas is removed without compromising the blood supply to the overlying skin. The fat that is removed can be used to augment other areas like the breasts and buttocks (“Brazilian butt lift”) or to fill in creases using fat transfer techniques. Back, thigh or abdominal liposuction can achieve the best results for patients who have good muscle tone, whose skin retains its elasticity, and whose weight is stable. Liposuction is typically performed as an outpatient procedure, with most patients going home the same day.
The procedure often begins with your physician marking and photographing the areas to be treated. Then, you’ll receive either general or local anesthesia, depending on your needs. During the procedure, the cosmetic surgeon will use a cannula, which is a thin tube, to suction out fat from the problem area. Afterward, you can expect a few weeks of soreness, swelling and bruising in the treated area, but you’ll typically be able to return to work within a few days and to your usual activities within a few weeks.
Body contouring or sculpting involves not only extracting the right amount of fat but also leaving behind enough fat so you end up with the youthful, smooth, chiseled waistline, abdomen or thighs that suit you — and help you to look good in that new dress or a swimsuit. While liposuction is a permanent procedure in the sense that the fat cells are permanently removed, it does require you to practice a healthy lifestyle to maintain the results. It is possible to regain weight if you don’t maintain good eating habits and commit to regular exercise.
